From Spanish Class to Wedding Bliss:
A Modern Love Story

Finding "The One" - Both Partner and Wedding Dress
In the world of dating apps and fleeting connections, Vanessa Cruz and her husband's love story kicks it old school. Picture this: 2012, sophomore year Spanish class. Their teacher, playing Cupid in disguise, dubbed it "the classroom of love." Talk about foreshadowing!
Vanessa, thinking the teacher was exaggerating, scanned the room. Her eyes locked with her future husband's, and bam! Instant connection. Years later, they'd laugh about how they both had the same thought: "If I had to talk to someone here, it'd be them." Cute, right?
Fast forward to 2020, and he's dropping to one knee on Thanksgiving, outside Vanessa's grandparents' place. Talk about something to be thankful for!
Tell us about your wedding day. What was your favorite moment?
My favorite part of my wedding was the ceremony. From his reaction seeing me walk down the aisle and having doves at the end it was perfect.
Describe your venue and why you chose it.
We chose our venue because it was very close to our hometown so it was convenient and it had a beautiful outdoor patio.
How did you choose your wedding theme and colors?
Not much of a theme just used the color sage green and champagne.
What was your favorite DIY or personalized touch at the wedding?
Didn't do much DIY just the party favors. We did shot glasses and I wrapped those all myself.
What was your partner's reaction when they first saw you in your dress?
Our first look was walking down the aisle he was tearing up when he saw me.

What made you decide to shop at Fifi's Bridal for your wedding dress?
My dad is the UPS delivery man there and he recommended it :)
Describe your dress shopping experience at Fifi's. How did you know you'd found "the one"?
The experience was great!! Amanda was such a great help in finding exactly what I wanted! At first, I thought I wanted a long-sleeved dress and Amanda recommended this dress that you can add an off-the-shoulder and I knew it was the one when my mom and bridesmaids started tearing up.
How was the fitting process at Fifi's Bridal?
The fitting process was crazy in a good way. When I tried on my dress I was probably the heaviest I had ever been. I decided to cut weight for the wedding and I ended up cutting 35+ pounds and Fifi had to take apart my dress and put it back together. I was so overwhelmed but Fifi really saved the day!
What was the most memorable part of working with the team at Fifi's?
The fittings were always fun! Amanda and Fifi give the best recommendation with jewelry down to the shoes. And of course, always seeing Simba was the best!
